Each classroom is set up into “centers”. These areas are different types of materials and play.
Art, blocks, manipulatives, pretend play, science, books, sensory ad music are the centers you will find in every classroom. These centers allow the children to learn and discover in different ways. The teachers create activities on the lesson plan for each area and consider the children’s individual needs.
The materials will vary from classroom to classroom. Each group have different developmental needs. Even inside each classroom there may be drastically different developmental needs. The teacher’s plan for this to ensure than all children’s needs are met.
Materials are rotated weekly or monthly in the centers. Most often materials are changed out to meet the theme of the lesson plan or to help meet the needs of the children’s learning.
On the Tadpoles notes you will see information directly relating to the center the child played in and what they were working on.
