Mission Statement
At All God’s Children CEC, it is our mission to provide a safe, nurturing learning environment for each child in our care. We provide enriching hands on learning activities that are developmentally appropriate. Our learning environment is engaging and stimulating, teaching children skills they will carry through life. It is our goal to instill a life long love of learning as we prepare them for their next step in life.
Our History
In September of 2005, Loura McRae and her husband Phillip opened a center in Candler, NC. Mrs. Loura had been a preschool teacher for 4 years and was working toward an Early Childhood Education degree. They were licensed for 30 children and had two staff members. Mrs. Loura was the Preschool teacher, director, cook, janitor.
The center grew from a handful of preschoolers and after schoolers to a center full of toddlers, preschoolers and afterschoolers as well as a full staff.
In August of 2012, Mrs. Loura was visited by a man who had a child care center that was closing that week. He asked her to come visit. So, that Thursday, she and Phillip agreed to take over the building and that Friday night they were cleaning out what the previous center had left behind.
The difficulty in keeping two centers full, became evident and Mrs. Loura made the difficult decision to close the original center (which was 1500 square feet) and move to the larger center (6000 square feet). The original center closed the end of February 2013. This was a difficult decision, but in the long run, it was the best choice.
Experience
Mrs. Loura has worked with children since babysitting at 13 years old. Her first “real job” was at a children’s home in SC. She was a live in parents in the infant to 5 years building. In 2002 she became a preschool teacher and taught preschool even after opening the center in 2005. She earned a Early Childhood Education Teaching Associate’s degree from Haywood Community college and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (child and family focused) from UNC-A.
Mrs. Loura has worked in all classrooms and with all ages. She has complete the environmental rating scales more than 10 times, has training in CLASS, Emergency Preparedness, Playground Safety and Basic School Age Care.
All three of her children were homeschooled and Mrs. Loura was very involved in the homeschool community.
There have been many changes over the years as All God’s Children CEC has grown into the strong program it is now. We look forward to more growth and many more families we can help.
