Finding what a preschooler wants for Christmas really isn’t hard. PJ Masks, Paw Patrol, or whatever other popular cartoon character is most likely what they want. But, I can tell you that there are amazing toys and activities that preschoolers LOVE that even better !
I have listed our favorite preschool toys, activities and books that every class we have had has enjoyed!
Matching Letter– Our preschoolers are starting to become more familiar with letters. This fun activities allows them to match letters to create words!
Mini Muffin Matching: This one activity teaches so many skills! Color recognition, measuring, counting, matching and sorting! A great math and fine motor skill game!
MathLink Cube Set: Learning math early and having fund is the way to go! Children learn well with hands on, visual and tactile activities. These cubes and activities help children learn to pattern, sort, count, etc.
Wooden Letter/Number Construction set: A wonderful pre-writing activity, children are able to “build” letters and numbers. This is another way for children to learn using hands on, tactile activities.
Perfection: Everyone remembers this game. Scared most of us to death! But, still, a fun way to sort and learn shapes. And how to deal with pressure and time limits! 🙂
Connect 4: This is a surprisingly popular game with our preschoolers. Our 2020 preschool graduates played it non-stop! It’s a great game for turn taking, strategy and patterns.
Puzzles: Another favorite for our 2020 preschool class. They actually would have puzzle races to see who could put puzzles together the fastest! It’s a great fine motor activity, math, spatial awareness and paying attention to details.
Pete the Cat: He’s a cool guy with his new school shoes. Pete the Cat is quite a character that preschoolers adore. The stories are interesting, fun and easy to follow along.
Straw Constructor: Kids love to build things. This construction set gives them a new way to build; with straws! Children are so creative and this activity gives them the tools to do that.
Magnetic Tiles: These building tiles are so popular we have to have a time limit on them! It’s amazing what preschoolers can build and create with these. You can even add metal jingle bells for extra Christmas fun!
Building Stars: All ages love these building stars! (yes, even our school age kids!) This isn’t your typical building shape. With this activity, you have to be creative and think your masterpiece out!
Experiment Lab: Who doesn’t love a fun experiment? This lab kit is full of fizzy, slimy fun! This is a great way for preschoolers to learn to follow directions, cause and effect, measuring, etc.
Wooden Town Block Set: This classic toy is one of the most popular in our classrooms. Not just a great set of blocks, but a town. Children are able to build their own town and pretend play their own scenarios. This is not only a fine motor builder, but life skills as well!
Mental Blox: This is a fun one that our preschoolers and school age children enjoy! Children manipulate the pieces to match the cards. It’s not as easy as it seems!
Brown Bear, Brown Bear: A popular children’s book that all our children have learned to repeat. It’s a great pre-reading book that allows children to “read” on their own!
